Acne Studios Presents New 08STHLM Sneaker Style In Glitter Silver

The 08STHLM sneaker family first appeared in the Fall/Winter 2021 Face collection as a streamlined take on the classic basketball sneaker in all-white and all-black versions. The hightops feature a rounded toe, exaggerated eyestays and a sturdy rubber sole. For the launch of the 08STHLM style, Acne Studios has created a limited-edition glitter version.

The uppers are completely coated in several different tints of silver glitter, while the tonal printed sole has an unexpected velour-like finish that is soft to the touch, embossed with the Acne Studios logo on the side and Face motif carved on the outsole. The laces are also fastened with a transparent Face logo stopper.

The glitter version come with special silver glitter socks with dusky pink stripes and the Acne Studios logo, a retro sneaker box wrapped in holographic paper and lined in grey flock, chrome shoe deodoriser balls with the Face logo and holographic ‘Acne Studios’ foil stickers. For the release of the 08STHLM limited edition glitter sneaker, rising star music artist Audrey Nuna features the kicks in an exclusive music video marking her directing debut and in which she performed.

Only 300 pairs of the glitter 08STHLM will be sold worldwide.

Audrey Nuna Creates a Music Video for Acne Studios to Launch limited edition 08STHLM glitter sneaker.

Born and raised in New Jersey, Audrey Nuna is a Korean-American R&B singer, rapper and rising star. From her debut full-length project, a liquid breakfast, she drops a new video for the song ‘That XX’, which also features the limited-edition Acne Studio 08STHLM sneakers in silver glitter. With the concept, creative direction and directing of the video completely in Audrey Nuna’s own hands, the result in a creative tour de force, cementing her status as one of the most exciting voices in music — and beyond.

• Can you talk us through the concept for the music video that features the Acne Studios 08STHLM silver glitter sneakers?
  

The film is a three-part narrative. The sneaker is so bold, so I immediately wanted the backdrop for it to be the opposite. We aimed to tell a very universal story of middle school embarrassment — using images that were as surreal and bright as the 08STHLM.

• What were your first impressions of the sneakers?
  

I immediately noticed how bold they were — especially the colour. There’s something cool about that unabashed and shameless boldness.

• How do the sneakers fit into the aesthetic or vibe of the music video?
  

If the entire film is a fever dream, the 08STHLM aesthetically are nuggets of surrealism and fantasy that allow you to realise that it’s all just a dream.

• What drew you to music in the first place?

It was a gift. I don’t remember how, when, or why I started singing because I was so young when I did. Music was always a source of freedom and euphoria for me.

• How would you describe your musical style?
  

Weird.

• Where do you often draw inspiration from for your music?
  

Other music and art. Sometimes paintings, sometimes words that people say in conversation.

• How and why did you start directing your own music videos?
  

I’ve always loved the visual side and always knew I wanted to be heavily involved in that aspect. It happened naturally. I was always co-writing on the treatments and that developed into codirecting,
creative directing, and for the first time with this Acne Studios film, directing.

• What has life been like since you released a liquid breakfast earlier this year?
  

Pretty much the same. A lot of promoting and talking about the project, which is new for me to talk about a full-length project with strangers.

• What are your thoughts about the relationship between music and fashion?
  

They’re two ways I like to express myself. They’re like two different brushes for a painter.

• What’s next for you?
  

New music.
