Miu Miu Literary Club Shanghai: A Celebration of Feminine Literary Mastery
On 21st November 2025, Miu Miu introduced its Literary Club Shanghai, titled A Woman’s Education. This exclusive cultural initiative explored the works of three monumental female writers: French existentialist Simone de Beauvoir; Japanese Shōwa-era author Fumiko Enchi; and the renowned contemporary Chinese literary voice Eileen Chang.

Inspired by Europe’s Literary Heritage
Following the legacy of European literary salons and artist collectives, Miu Miu Literary Club builds on the brand’s tradition of storytelling and feminine creativity, similar in spirit to its acclaimed Women’s Tales short‑film platform.

Simone de Beauvoir: The Power of Self-Awareness
The inaugural discussion featured scholars engaging with de Beauvoir’s The Inseparables, highlighting themes of female friendship and self-determination — resonant with Miu Miu’s own campaign defining “femininities.” See Miu Miu’s “Femininities” campaign for a visual echo of these ideas.

Fumiko Enchi: Love and Resistance
The second panel, focused on Enchi’s The Waiting Years, unfolded against the broader backdrop of Miu Miu’s dedication to layered narratives — much like its craftsmanship in leather: explore Miu Miu’s matelassé leather collection for a parallel in subtle texture and strength.

Eileen Chang: Growth and Runaway
The third conversation centered on Chang’s The Fall of the Pagoda, examining themes of identity, escape, and education — echoing Miu Miu’s own journey of exploration and reinvention, such as in its signature Wander handbag, designed to roam freely across borders.

A Fusion of Literature, Music, and Art
Readings and performances by Miu Miu’s brand ambassadors were woven into the event, unifying fashion, literature, and music in a way that feels as cinematic as the brand’s Holiday Campaign 2025, itself a poetic celebration of legacy and femininity.

Continuing the Legacy
The Shanghai Literary Club extends Miu Miu’s ongoing cultural narrative, rooted in the same spirit of innovation and feminine dialogue that animates its fashion campaigns and film commissions.
