Bvlgari Triumphs At The GPHG 2025 With The Octo Finissimo Ultra Tourbillon
Luxferity, 14.11.2025

At the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG), the global stage for the most prestigious achievements in watchmaking, Bvlgari once again affirmed its mastery of contemporary horology, taking home the coveted Tourbillon Watch Prize with its groundbreaking Octo Finissimo Ultra Tourbillon.

This latest win adds to a remarkable lineage of accolades. The Roman Maison, renowned for its dual identity as both a jeweller and a watchmaker of exceptional technical daring, competed this year in three categories: Tourbillon with the Octo Finissimo Ultra Tourbillon, Iconic with the Bvlgari x MB&F Serpenti, and Jewelry with the Serpenti Aeterna.
Over recent years, Bvlgari has firmly secured its place among the elite of haute horlogerie, accumulating eleven GPHG awards, including the prestigious Aiguille d’Or in 2021 for the Octo Finissimo Perpetual Calendar.

A Vision Realised: Bvlgari’s Rise as a Preeminent Watchmaker
Jean-Christophe Babin, CEO of LVMH Watches and CEO of Bvlgari, reflected on the significance of the win: “Beyond this grand prize, credit is due, more than ever, to the teams who, in 14 years, have transformed a prestigious jeweler into a preeminent watchmaker... This 21st award fills me with immense emotion and gratitude.”
This recognition underlines a journey of relentless innovation — one that has pushed Bvlgari far beyond traditional boundaries in both aesthetic refinement and mechanical ingenuity.

Octo Finissimo Ultra Tourbillon: The World’s Thinnest Flying Tourbillon
With a case measuring an astonishing 1.85 mm in total thickness, the Octo Finissimo Ultra Tourbillon is not merely a record-setter — it is a manifesto of modern horology.
This exceptional timepiece integrates a fully skeletonised flying tourbillon within an ultra-thin architecture, redefining what is possible within the realm of mechanical performance.

The Art of Lightness and Transparency
Since debuting the world's thinnest flying tourbillon in 2014 with a movement of just 1.95 mm, Bvlgari has continued to push the limits of thinness. The Ultra Tourbillon represents the culmination of this pursuit.
By embracing extreme skeletonisation, Bvlgari enhances the interplay of light and shadow across the movement. The polished bezel flange, rhodium-plated bridges, and sunburst-finished tourbillon bridge create a captivating aesthetic dialogue — one that fuses contemporary decorative codes with uncompromising technical sophistication.
Every component is meticulously balanced between efficiency, structural integrity, and visual refinement. The exposed nature of the architecture demands perfection from every angle, amplifying the challenge and elevating the artistry.

Two-Dimensional Watchmaking: A Radical Approach
The development of this ultra-thin piece required the Bvlgari Manufacture to adopt a bold conceptual shift: designing the watch in two dimensions instead of three.
This rethinking of traditional watchmaking foundations mobilised the full spectrum of Bvlgari’s expertise, inspiring new techniques and forms of creative collaboration.
As Babin explains: “Setting a record isn't just about crossing barriers – it's about redefining what's possible… With each challenge, we've had to rethink not only traditional techniques but also how watches are designed and developed.”
The result is a timepiece that stands as a testament to human craftsmanship, mechanical ingenuity, and the spirit of innovation that defines the modern Maison.
