Sharing a title with Elson’s 2020 memoir, The Red Flame is a collaboration with Jess Cheatham of Salt Ceramics and Nicole Gaines of The Clarity Shop.

“I admire these women both for what they create and what they stand for,” says the Nashville-based British supermodel, singer-songwriter, author and advocate.

Supermodel, singer-songwriter, author and advocate, Karen Elson launched The Red Flame: a bespoke, limited-edition candle named for her acclaimed memoir, which landed on store shelves one year ago this month. Inspired by her local community, the longtime Nashville resident partnered with two of her favorite local woman artisans: Jess Cheatham of Salt Ceramics and Nicole Gaines of The Clarity Shop.

Available exclusively on Elson’s website, and retailing for $75.00, The Red Flame candle was made with love, just in time for holiday gift-giving. Elson worked closely with the two small business owners on every aspect of The Red Flame—from blending a warm and unique scent with Gaines, who personally poured each candle, to designing a ceramic vessel with Cheatham, who crafted each piece by hand.

“I’m thrilled to release my limited-edition candle collaboration with Salt Ceramics and Clarity Shop,” says Elson. “One thing I love the most about Nashville is my community. These are words I don’t take lightly. Community is everything to me. I’m extremely fortunate to be surrounded by many interesting, creative and talented artists and it was in this spirit that this collaboration was born between myself, Salt Ceramics, and Clarity Shop. I admire these women both for what they create and what they stand for. This limited-edition candle is called, what else, but The Red Flame. It smells wonderful, it looks beautiful, and it’s perfect for the holidays.”

This Red Flame candle arrives exactly one year after Elson’s memoir, which marked her debut as an author. The Red Flame (Rizzoli) found the iconic redhead chronicling her two-decade-long career in the fashion and entertainment industry: from her tumultuous childhood in Northern England to her rise to fame as one of fashion's most unique faces, to her evolution as a singer-songwriter. Elson—who walked the runways of Alexander McQueen, Chanel, Valentino, and Gucci, among many others—also discusses her role as a leading advocate for model rights in the workplace, while speaking to the state of the fashion industry up to the present day. Hailed as “a must-read book” by the New York Journal of Books, The Red Flame was praised by Vogue as “not just a riveting autobiography and a stunning visual retrospective: It’s also a righteous call to arms.”
