Icicle Celebrates Autumn-Winter 2022/23 With “Snow Buddies”
Luxferity, 22.12.2024
A new expression of this year’s ‘Water’ theme draws inspiration from the prisms of snow and ice, the joy of snowmen, and the sculptural beauty of wintry landscapes.
In the spirit of its theme for 2022 ‘Water’, ICICLE unveils an Autumn-Winter 2022-2023 collection brimming with elegance, texture and good cheer, crafted from exceptional natural, noble fabrics that are not only cozy and warm but also particularly water-wise.
“For Autumn-Winter 2022, ICICLE silhouettes recall the poetic curves and roundness of snowdrifts; they are warm and enveloping yet have a certain nonchalance. This is a pure, modern wardrobe in fabrics that can stand up to the coldest of climates,” commented Artistic Director Bénédicte Laloux.
The season’s key fibres include fine, soft double-faced cashmere, hand-gathered during the moulting season from goats living on Asia’s highest plateaus. The “DEW” duvet is a very tight silk and wool weave that is water-dipped, which makes it naturally water- and windproof. Resistant wool from the two-humped Bactrian camel, also known as the Mongolian camel, is hand-gathered following Asian tradition. Each fabric is worked according to specific seasonal inspirations into garments that invite touch and are made to last a lifetime. Inspired by graceful, silent snowy peaks, sculptural coats made of chemical-free, double-faced cashmere in pristine white, ecru and soft gray are designed for the coldest days of the year yet remain lightweight and as comfortable as cocoons. Cashmere and yak wool blend together in a modern hybrid coat in a graduated beige and chestnut plaid that fuses the indispensable winter coat with the ease of a hoodie. Ample shapes with pure, minimalistic lines play up structure and asymmetry, creating a warm, relaxed allure.
Blending warmth, lightness and natural resistance to the elements, the pieces in ‘DEW’ duvet are inspired by endless Arctic nights, when the sun’s rays are nothing but blue flashes on the distant horizon. Long coats with rounded collars and cotton jersey linings come in a harmonious palette of solid colours or in midnight blue graduating to rich chestnut, and stand out for their elegant simplicity, whether plain or with quilted details. The sun glistening on fresh alpine snow informs cream-coloured jackets, coats and hats in naturally weatherproof camel wool that ensure warmth and breathable comfort, whether in the mountains or the city. Utilitarian and sporty influences, textures and colours blend with refined style, creating pieces which work perfectly for today’s lifestyle.
The unique Seed bag — a responsible design made from a single piece of leather, generating no waste — welcomes a sibling: the Sling bag, designed to be carried horizontally, a twist that gives it extra versatility of wear (over the shoulder, cross-body or like a bum bag).
Photographer Koto Bolofo brings the ICICLE Autumn-Winter 2022/23 collection to life, evoking the pleasures and warmth of winter pastimes and the spirit of sharing the carefree joys of childhood, from sliding down snowy slopes to building a snowman that might just take on a life of his own.
