XULY.Bët Presents Its New Fall-Winter 2022 Collection

We are about to celebrate 30 years of the XULY.Bët brand next season: 30 years of fight, love and strength. Lamine Badian Kouyaté and Rodrigo Martinez draw on the energy of their collaborators and their close ones who have been an endless source of support to them. The love that surrounds XULY.Bët in 2022 makes them resist and would give anybody faith in human beings.

If the past two years have been loaded with challenges for XULY.Bët and for Earth, 2022 only seems to bring positive things for the FUNKIN’ FASHION FACTORY. This is at least what Lamine Badian Kouyaté has wanted to express in his FW22-23 collection.

That was not an easy task as the world changes brutally everyday. XULY.Bët has decided once again to be resilient towards the current situation that never ceases to demoralize us but also towards a dehumanized society.

Lamine Badian Kouyaté and Rodrigo Martinez decided to believe otherwise and to prove it through their creativity. Isn’t resilience at the heart of XULY.Bët’s energy?

This season they have decided to photograph the collection with their Director of Photography, Ismaël Moumin. Stylist Dan Sablon, recently appointed Fashion Director of i-D France, also influenced the styling of the collection with his modernity and experience.In front of a neutral background, the idea was to put the clothes first, the colors and shiny materials of the collection, just as its details and fabrics that enrich Lamine Badian Kouyaté’s creations. We find more than ever the designer’s need to protect those who will wear XULY.Bët especially in these times. The recycled workers’ jackets are to him a reminder that only essential workers didn’t stop working during 2020’s first quarantine.

He also took on this collection as an ode to joy. The approach of the body and the red stitching that could be stigmatized only make life more precious. He took an interest in the essentials that give more joy, more life.

The film directed by Molly Ledoux takes its roots in the affiliation between the Director, Lamine and Rodrigo. Part of the XULY.Bët family for many years, she’s the one who allowed XULY.Bët to renew itself and continue to make youth a deep identity of the brand. Ledoux was also the Casting Director of past shows and now goes behind the camera to create this short-film that wouldn’t have seen the light of day without her determination and affection for XULY.Bët.

Accompanied by stylist Tati Cotliar who joins the ranks of the FUNKIN’ FASHION FACTORY, she was able to think of the future of the brand by bringing it an unseen vision.

Carried by Rossy de Palma who invites the spectator in the dystopian future of XULY.Bët, she is quickly gathered by the XULY.Bët aliens, survivors of a vanished species. Their energy and singularity remind us that not all is lost, quite the contrary.

XULY.Bët wishes to dedicate this collection to Virgil Abloh, whose passing marked Lamine Badian Kouyaté and who pushed him to face the adversity that is death.
