To honor the year of Water, the Natural Way capsule collection highlights one of the world’s most eco-friendly materials.
This season, ICICLE unveils a Natural Way capsule collection in honor of the year of Water. Called “Hemp Up!” it is composed entirely of minimalistic essentials based on eco-friendly hemp, silk, and organic cotton, an homage to the beauty of Nature.
Cultivated in Eastern Asia for millennia, the hemp plant presents qualities that make it ideal for fashion and for the planet. Naturally water-efficient, it purifies the air and soil wherever it grows, while its fibers have been prized for a variety of uses since Antiquity. Refined into fabric, hemp blends lightness and natural thermoregulating properties with durability and resistance.
Now, ICICLE shines a spotlight on this long-forgotten, sustainable fiber, incorporating hemp seamlessly into a comfortable and contemporary lifestyle.
“ICICLE’s quest for harmony between man and Nature means that everything starts with the materials,” says Artistic Director Bénédicte Laloux. “Because hemp is so versatile and breathable, it opens up a world of possibilities for our customers, who prioritize premium clothing that is mindful of our planet.”
Collaborating between Paris and Shanghai, the Artistic Director and her teams focused on hemp fabric and hemp-silk blends with a luxurious hand. These were used either in their natural form or treated with chemicalfree dyes based on tea and wormwood leaves to produce versatile, functional and gender-inclusive silhouettes that are as easy to share as they are to wear.
The collection is anchored by multiple variations on a mid-season essential: the trench coat.
Mixed with organic cotton or silk, pristine white hemp has an almost veil-like lightness, punctuated simply by a ribbon with ICICLE lettering in back. An oversized version, in a light beige achieved by using a black tea leaf dye, is cut generously enough to be shared by two. An urban trench in chemical-free Japanese organic cotton features a straight cut, a funnel neck and a drawstring waist for structuring the silhouette.
Urban separates have supple, squared cuts to encourage effortless mix-and-match. Relaxed button-downs are dyed with white tea and sewn with buttons in Earth-friendly galalith, a biodegradable material derived from the milk protein casein that has been used throughout this collection. Drawstring Bermudas and ample trousers are leaf-dyed to gentle beige or warm sandstone hues. Relaxed popovers and easy, elevated t-shirts are worked in a soft hemp-silk blend with sporty details like side slits, drawstrings, or a buttoned shoulder. A workwearinspired jacket has a relaxed “boyfriend” fit, making it a staple for breezy summer evenings.
Seasonal accessories include chic and practical beige silk-hemp bob hats with a contrasting white lining, leather patch, and ICICLE lanyards. Moccasins in cream-colored calf leather complete a simple yet polished look.
