Zimmermann Announces The Opening Of Its New Boutique In Munich

ZIMMERMANN opened its boutique in Munich, located at Maximilianstraße 16 in a beautiful historical 1800s building. Set within the iconic luxury shopping district in the old town, the 272 square meter boutique marks the first address of the Australian brand in Germany.

Designed by long-term collaborators Studio McQualter, the store highlights reinstated large timber windows along Am Kosttor, preserving the building’s historic architectural elements, while seamlessly integrating modern luxury. This standout feature allows natural light to flood the space, creating a harmonious atmosphere.

“Germany is a special place to us; our father was born and raised here so it is wonderful to be celebrating our first store in Munich. The concentration of architecture, fashion and history in Maximilianstraße continues to make it such a spectacular neighbourhood. Our Munich flagship is the perfect intersection of what we look for in a location: structural character and charm that represents the heritage of the area, while the interior is our playground to design an immersive experience for our clients. The new store design introduces three distinct rooms that offer views to the rear of the space, enhancing a sense of openness. The first two rooms welcome visitors with custom large Palladiana floors, striking white high-gloss wall, and original beams. This space seamlessly blends elements of modern and historical aesthetics, featuring Carrara marble windowsills displaying a selection of belts, scarves, and standalone jewellery cases, a forties Swedish wall lamp, and a seventies French lacquered table. The result is a unique juxtaposition of materials and eras, creating a sophisticated yet relaxed ambience.

A third adjoining room draws visitors with its captivating burnished russet gloss walls and mirrored ceiling. This feature complements the contrasting terrazzo floor. Adding to the room’s charm is a reclaimed Mid-Century Chinese lacquered Coromandel screen.

The lounge area includes four meticulously designed fitting rooms, each serving to enhance the customer experience by offering more space and privacy. The lounge’s centrepiece is a stunning stainless steel fireplace, framed by a custom mirror and aluminium shelving adorned with a display of shoes. The room features a mix of vintage and new pieces, from a pair of Dutch Art Deco armchairs to the seventies Italian Murano chandelier, adding a touch of historic sophistication to the room.
