INSPIRATION
Youth, personal confidence, and the energy of city living are starting points to a collection designed for a complete life, from particularly essential wardrobe pieces to sensual and fierce eveningwear. There is a directness about this collection based on a foundation of Atelier know-how, corsetry construction and perfect tailoring.
LINE
The powerful tailoring silhouettes of Fall-Winter 2023 are made light, sculptural, and sleek. Versace’s use of sharp architecture is seen in three-dimensional structured necklines, streamlined collarless jackets, and the signature bustier. Twisted and knotted pieces, inspired by the Spring-Summer 1995 Atelier Versace collection, modernize the House’s heritage by redefining the shapes of dresses and tops in transparent georgette and jersey. Atelier pieces are pared back to their fundamentals, and a series of dresses center on square and triangular shapes. Versace denim has a sartorial approach including the House code metal mesh featured as inserts.
MATERIAL
A focus on design fundamentals at the heart of the House. Contrast is key: hard metal with intarsia lace; graphic checkerboard patterns with delicate embroidery. The Versace Contrasto checkerboard is expressed in new fabric manipulation techniques including jacquard organic silk-blend duchesse, textural macramé, and RWS-certified responsibly sourced wool crepe tweed. The signature Barocco print is rendered as an emboss in silk-blend duchesse and as macramé borders. Stretch translucent chiffon mixes devoré techniques and overprinting. Fluid and weighty FSC-certified responsibly sourced satin plays with matte and sheen finishes.
COLOR
A very Versace palette of pastel colors in Pastel Pink, Blue, Mint Green, and Pale Yellow. Light natural shades of Light Sand, and Pearl Gray. Grounding colors of Dark Ruby, Black, and White.
PRINT
Versace Contrasto Checkerboard: The checkerboard has been used within many Versace collections, both ready-to-wear and Home, since its debut in Spring-Summer 1982.
The Versace Rose: A seasonal motif that symbolizes beauty, passion, and defiance.
READY-TO-WEAR
Color and shape share in the vibrancy and optimism of the 1960s, but are super modern in the shine of materials, folding of fabrics and the play of transparency. A sense of youthful freshness, freedom, and fun comes from the irreverent layering of tailored jackets, silk shirts, and micro shorts. The predominant silhouette of the season is typically sharp and clean. Men’s tailoring features pinched waist jackets and shirts worn with wide flaring pants, and the utilitarian feeling of accessories extends to ready-to-wear.
BAGS & ACCESSORIES
Leather accessories continue to take the form of iconic House codes. The signature Barocco, Greca, and Medusa are prevalent in three main expressions. The Greca Goddess line expands once again. The unisex Athena tote bag takes-on the Barocco in a chic and elevated daywear form, while the heritage Medusa ’95 lives in a new bag line and unique shape of the season. Cargo leather bags are highly portable and versatile across a range of alternate shapes, from tote bags to handheld pouches.
Greca Goddess: Continuation of the bag line with new finishes in metallic leather across existing icons of the House; the top handle, hobo, and mini bag. Introduction of a nano top handle bag.
Athena: Tote bag line in GOTS-certified cotton canvas featuring the Versace logo, and textural Barocco tone-on-tone jacquard. In alternate sizes small to extra-large with top handles and detachable shoulder strap. Finishes include a checkerboard motif crafted in intricate embroidery.
Medusa ’95: New bag line with belt detail featuring the Medusa ’95 hardware, the iconic House hardware code first seen in the 1995 collections. Includes handbag, unique horizontal tote bag in alternate size, color, and material finishes including a smooth leather with unique and luxurious powder-like finish, and matte crocodile-embossed leather.
Cargo: Highly portable and versatile bags and pouches featuring multiple patch pockets. Introducing new briefcase and messenger styles in alternate color and material finishes.
SHOES
Shoes recall the main messages of the collection. Gianni Ribbon and Medusa ’95 signifiers continue the expression of the House’s heritage and craft. The Gianni Ribbon ballerina flat is the shoe of the season and marks the first time that Versace opens a fashion show with a pair of flat shoes.
Gianni Ribbon: Introducing the ballerina flat that features an archival ‘nastro Gianni’ satin ribbon bow. Ribbon detail extends across a full range of styles, from flats to platforms and pumps with transparent plexiglass heels. Boots are crafted in stretch satin, nappa and suede leathers.
Cork-Sole Sandals: Mule sandal with cork sole and rubber outsole construction in new color and material finishes. Introducing a trekking inspired sandal with cage construction.
Track Sandals: Men’s trekking inspired sandals with a cage-like cord construction.
Medusa ’95: Elegant sling-back mules for men crafted in an ultra-soft and malleable leather featuring the Medusa ’95 as a hardware detail. Including finishes in crocodile-embossed, laminated, checkerboard, and pastel-colored leathers, as well as classic smooth in black, white, and burgundy.
