To celebrate the success of the Apollo 11 mission and the first watch worn on the moon, OMEGA produced a limited series of solid gold Speedmaster timepieces (reference BA145.022-69), the first thirty of which were given as gifts to those who made the moon landing possible.

A description that certainly applies to Apollo 11’s Command Module Pilot Michael Collins, who received Speedmaster #19. The watch is now in the possession of a passionate collector. Adding to the value of the Speedmaster is the personally engraved caseback, with the name of the astronaut, his missions – and a poetic tribute to the spirit of space exploration.
