Maison Kitsuné's Colour Splash: The Spring-Summer 2023 Collection
Luxferity, 06.10.2022
This season, Maison Kitsuné makes an impression through colorful expression. The combined Men’s and Women’s collections explore pragmatism and sophistication with a variety of creative twists. Bold stripes, color-blocking, watercolor treatments and our iconic Fox in gradient hues:applied to utility wear and sporty tailoring, the effect is newly joyous and playful.
Developed by the Maison Kitsuné studio team in the heart of Paris, these clothes reflect urban exploration and functional, everyday dressing. In solid tones or graphic prints, looks are designed to be mixed, matched and personally styled with a relaxed attitude. Individual pieces reveal modular features and attention to detail, whether track suits with adjustable drawstrings and convertible pants, padded overshirts, or an oversized parka with multiple pockets. Shapes are loose yet fit close to the body.
Several garments effortlessly cross over, as a boxy polo dress on her becomes a shirt on him. Materials signal ease, from technical water-repellent recycled nylon, polished gabardine and light cotton poplin to comfortable cotton knit and fleece. The palette is confident and considered: saturated grass green and deep blue are offset by softer shades of coral rose and yellow. Even the Fox has been interpretated as a poetic portrait by Rop van Mierlo, the artist behind the ever-expanding Wild Animals watercolor series. Accessories – including striped totes in coated canvas and color-blocked cases on neck straps – are as purposeful as they are eye-catching.
Interspersed with this Spring-Summer 2023 collection is designer Olympia Le-Tan’s latest capsule for Maison Kitsuné. Her West Coast holiday theme – channeled through cabana stripes, palm fronds and hotel crests – adds a layer of preppy cool to the season’s core looks.
Meanwhile, the collaboration with Japanese brand “and wander” highlights Maison Kitsuné’s adventure seeking side. Designers Keita Ikeuchi and Mihoko Mori introduce their mountain-meets-city sensibility with functional outerwear and performance layers. In soft earthy tones spliced with sporty black and grey, these versatile pieces are a natural extension of the Maison Kitsuné world. From this infusion of color, Maison Kitsuné has put a fresh spin on its contemporary Parisian vision. The collection stands out as carefree, exuding optimism and an enduring artistic spirit.
