Gucci Brand
Gucci Announced The Ultra-thin GUCCI 25H
Luxferity, 12.05.2021
Gucci presents an exceptional high-watchmaking timepiece housing a debut in-house calibre, the GUCCI GG727.25, developed and produced by the state-of-the art Kering movement manufacture in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland.
Not only is this movement a triumphant milestone in the Florentine House’s watchmaking his-tory, it is fitted in the new GUCCI 25H watch design, Gucci’s first mechanical watch in the ultra-thin sports-luxe mode. The calibre name references important numerical symbols within Gucci: ‘7’ to encapsulate a sense of completeness; ‘2’ representing balance and cooperation; ‘5’ symbolizing curiosity and freedom.
The GUCCI 25H reflects the sleek forms of contemporary architecture, where func-tional, industrial materials like steel were celebrated as precious in their own right. This can be seen in the continuous rhythms of the horizontal satin-brushed lines on the watch dial and Interlocking G logo.
Resolutely contemporary in style, the GUCCI 25H is presented in steel and pavé-set gender-neutral models along with two tourbillon iterations – one in platinum, the other in yellow gold. With its clean, sporty lines and sleek, contrasting finishes, the GUCCI 25H encapsulates the House’s aesthetic, its super-slim profile highlighting the brand’s understanding of fine-watchmaking codes.
The ultra-slim case and integrated bracelet accent the smooth, multi-layered archi-tecture of the GUCCI 25H, while alternate polished and satin-brushed metal finishes create shadows and depth, accenting almost 50 years of Gucci expertise in watch design.
The GUCCI 25H bears a playfully symbolic name, containing a number that Ales-sandro Michele considers a talisman and one he often features in his collections for Gucci.
- GUCCI 25H Automatic Steel
Gucci’s high watchmaking debut is presented with an impressively thin case at just 7.2mm, crafted in three super-fine layers. With a case diameter of 40mm, the smooth, bezel of the GUCCI 25H Automatic Steel is precision-designed to cover the crown, rendering it almost invisible, so as not to interrupt the sleek outline of the case. The watch seals its contemporary character with balanced architectural details. A series of satin-brushed dark-grey horizontal lines adds subtle depth to its slim frame, while the calibre designation, GG727.25.A, is highlighted in red. The Double G logo is ap-plied at 12 o’clock, with the GUCCI signature and ‘Automatic’ in black just below.
The skeleton hands, too, are a novel design, each sporting a SuperLuminova dot marker near the tip. The SuperLuminova treatment also allows the lean, stick indices of the GUCCI 25H Automatic Steel to mark out time in the dark, while the octagonal watch crown is embossed with the Interlocking G logo.
The Calibre GUCCI GG727.25 is visible through the sapphire-crystal caseback of the GUCCI 25H Automatic Steel. With its variable-inertia balance running at 3Hz (21,600 oscillations per hour), the 24-jewel movement is self-wound via a micro-rotor and features a 60-hour power reserve. A unique wave pattern decorates the move-ment plate, on which the calibre designation GG727.25.A is also engraved. Blue screws contribute another hallmark of fine-watchmaking.
These carefully considered details, including the five-link integrated bracelet design, engraved with the Gucci signature on the butterfly clasp, augments the comfort of the GUCCI 25H Automatic Steel.
- The GUCCI 25H Automatic Diamonds
In this gem-set variation of the super-slim GUCCI 25H Automatic Steel, a circular line of 82 brilliant-cut diamonds draws dazzling attention to GUCCI 25H’s distinctly smooth cushion-shaped bezel, the effect being an avant-garde geometry that places a circle inside a square. The GG symbol is subtly applied at 12 o’clock, while the GUCCI signature presides over ‘Automatic’ just above the dial center. The cali-bre designation – GG727.25.A – is expertly engraved in black just above the 6 o’clock position.
GUCCI 25H Tourbillon editions
Two exceptional tourbillon editions of GUCCI 25H are also presented in 2021– one in platinum, a rare precious metal prized for its durability and strength, the other in sublime yellow gold, each crafted with an ultra-fine case thickness of just 8 mm.
- GUCCI 25H Tourbillon Platinum
The calibre designation – GG727.25.T is expertly engraved just above the dial’s cen-ter. The sapphire-crystal caseback of the GUCCI 25H Tourbillon Platinum features a variable-inertia balance running at 3Hz (21,600 oscillations per hour), the 26-jewel movement is self-wound via a micro-rotor and features a 60-hour power reserve. A specially created pattern of fine waves is guilloched on the movement plate, on which the calibre designation GG727.25.T and the Interlocking G logo are engraved. Blue screws contribute to the movement’s elevated style.
- GUCCI 25H Tourbillon 18kt-yellow gold
This watch displays all of the technical characteristics of the high watchmaking plat-inum design with the grace of a master goldsmith’s eye. Layer upon layer of gold de-tailing – case, crown, indices, bracelet, buckle – add up to a magnificent whole in a timepiece that epitomises the rich traditions and forward-thinking of classic Gucci design.
