Panerai: QuarantaQuattro Brings A New Dimension To The World Of Submersible
Luxferity, 08.04.2022
The Panerai story is one of innovation in the service of creating tools for unfettered adventure. An endless pursuit of novel technology is part of that quest, as is a sustained focus on the evolving aesthetic and pragmatic needs of the individuals who choose Panerai.
With the debut of the Panerai Submersible QuarantaQuattro, the 44mm case will become a cornerstone of the iconic collection of Submersible dive watches, joining existing 47mm and 42mm sizes. The additional option ensures that there is a Submersible to meet a full array of wearers no matter their preferred watch size.
All the essential features that are hallmarks of the Submersible family exist in the Submersible QuarantaQuattro; it is water-resistant up to 300 meters, with the patented crown-protecting device that is inextricably linked to the Panerai history of marine adventure. In addition, a uni-directional rotating bezel to measure submersion time and metallic appliques filled with white Super-LumiNova™ make the watch an indispensable diving instrument. The P.900 caliber features a seconds sub-dial at 9 o’clock and supplies a three-day power reserve.
An improved date window that provides heightened legibility is a distinguishing feature of the Submersible QuarantaQuattro; it marks the debut of a detail that will be implemented throughout the Submersible collection.
Three distinct interpretations of the Submersible QuarantaQuattro inaugurate its arrival, each with individual pairings of colors and materials.
The foundation for the Submersible QuarantaQuattro Carbotech™ Blu Abisso (PAM01232) is a case composed of the lightest material employed by the brand. Panerai pioneered the use of carbotech, which has applications in the worlds of aeronautics, motorsports and biomedicine, in watch design.
A composite based on carbon fiber, it encompasses a specific collection of properties—lighter than titanium, high resistance to corrosion, to scratching—that makes it feel weightless on the wrist while possessing remarkable strength. Its inherent variegated black coloring ensures that no two cases will be identical.
A titanium DLC crown in a similar black hue harmonizes with the Carbotech construction. In keeping with the Submersible collection’s legacy of underwater exploration, the dial and accompanying coordinating straps are the color of the deep undersea blue.
A rendition of the Submersible QuarantaQuattro with a steel case and black dial (PAM01229) endows the model with a sharp, compelling presence, heightened by the contrasting white Super-LumiNova™ that enhances its hands, dots and indices. Straps in black rubber and dark gray fabric strengthen the watch’s dramatic impression. Meanwhile, a brilliant white dial with straps in a supremely versatile military green hue distinguishes the Submersible QuarantaQuattro Bianco (PAM01226).
All the timepieces are characterized by the consistent Panerai’s commitment to encouraging environmentally conscious practices: the first rubber strap is made from 30% of recycled materials while, like all the straps from the Submerisble QuarantaQuattro offering, the second one is composed of 68% recycled fabric material. A tool to allow interchangeability of the straps and a screwdriver for removing the buckle also accompany the Submersible QuarantaQuattro and the Submersible QuarantaQuattro Bianco watches.

About Panerai
Founded in Florence in 1860 as a workshop, shop and subsequently school of watch-making, for many decades Panerai supplied the Italian Navy and its specialist diving corps in particular with precision instruments. The designs developed by Panerai in that time, including the Luminor and Radiomir, were covered by the Military Secrets Act for many years and were launched on the international market only after the brand was acquired by the Richemont Group in 1997.
Today Panerai develops and crafts its movements and watches at its Neuchâtel manufacture. The latter are a seamless melding of Italian design flair and history with Swiss horological expertise. Panerai watches are sold across the world through an exclusive network of distributors and Panerai boutiques.
