Launching April 2022, the latest KARL LAGERFELD X AMBER VALLETTA collection introduces ready to wear styles with certified sustainable fabrics and designs.
KARL LAGERFELD announced a second eco-friendly collaboration for Spring Summer 2022 with the brand’s Sustainability Ambassador, model, and activist, Amber Valletta.
Building on the extraordinary success of their SS21 Sustainable Accessories Collaboration, including a PETA fashion Award, this new Capsule Collection further demonstrates KARL LAGERFELD’s passionate pledge to become more sustainable.
The ready to wear pieces are crafted from mostly natural materials such as certified 100% organic cotton and GRS certified recycled linen. Environmentally mindful materials like the vegan alternative to leather made from the leaves of cacti engineered by Desserto as well as the pre consumer upcycled material Tencel™ x Refibra™ by Lenzing are also used. Where feasible, production houses were selected close to the fabric/fiber source to minimize the garments’ environmental impact.

“It was important that the collection be designed with timelessness in mind since this idea is closely tied with sustainability and extending the life of our clothes. These are classic, seasonless pieces that can easily be interchanged to create multiple looks,” said Amber Valletta.
The effortlessly chic ready to wear pieces can be worn all year and are comprised of tailored styles with neutral toned hues that retail from €89 to 545€. These include a jumpsuit and a blazer with matching wide legged trousers and pencil skirt as well as a classic, crisp white shirt dress. Recy cled linen striped trousers in an extra wide leg silhouette bring casual sophistication to the line.
The collaboration’s standout hero piece is a reimagining of the iconic KARL LAGERFELD Odina biker jacket in vegan alternative to leather by Desserto while a figure skimming little black dress crafted from cutting edge circular material Tencel™ x Refibra™ completes the collection.
In addition to ready to wear styles, the new capsule collection sees the return of the K/Kushion bag, the design of which was inspired by a tailor made cushion that Karl Lagerfeld was known to carry with him on his travels. Building on the accessory’s success, the Spring Summer collection introduces two smaller shapes, including a pleated clutch and crossbody bag. Accessories retail from €295 to €395 and all styles are made from vegan cactus leather colored with organic pigments.
The second KARL LAGERFELD X AMBER VALLETTA collection pre-launched on Karl.com, Farfetch, and Zalando, on April 6th, 2022, as of April 7th the collection is available globally at through Karl Lagerfeld stores and premium wholesale distribution.
