Gucci Opens Renovated Wooster Street Boutique In New York City

Gucci Wooster celebrates the artistic heritage of the SoHo neighborhood and the creative essence of the House with a unique blend of contemporary design, fashion, and art. Since opening in 2018, Gucci Wooster has stood as a unique destination that blends the artistic heritage of SoHo and House’s latest collections. Today, Gucci announces the opening of its fully renovated boutique at 63 Wooster Street. The artfully restored space is a tribute to the vibrancy of New York and the values of Italian beauty and craftsmanship.
Gucci Wooster spans an entire city block, with two entrances on Wooster Street to West Broadway, within a 155-year-old landmark-protected building, once a pencil factory. The renovated concept preserves the original framework of the building, revealing restored brickwork, iron and wooden floors, tin ceilings, and columns that blend seamlessly with the new stainless steel, glass, and cement finishes throughout the space and place. Clean lines and understated tones complement the historic details of the building, synonymous with SoHo.
The respect for this historic site expressed through the enhancement of its distinctive features, combines with a deep appreciation for Italian craftsmanship and design and the desire to emphasize its global resonance. Owing to the creative vision that inspired the renovations of the recently inaugurated Monte Napoleone store in Milan, the interiors feature an intentionally essential selection of icons of Italian design by Cassina, B&B, and Minotti, aligning with Sabato De Sarno's contemporary aesthetic and placing Gucci's collections at the forefront. The four fitting rooms are encapsulated with lacquered Rosso Ancora panels.
Encompassing over 10,000 square feet across a unique open space, the boutique features women’s and men’s ready-to-wear and shoes, jewelry, accessories, and the signature Gucci Valigeria lines. In occasion of the opening, the space introduces the Women’s Spring Summer 24 collection now debuting in stores worldwide, including limited-edition items as an acid green variation of the Jackie Notte bag.
Gucci Wooster will continue to be home of the Gucci Wooster Bookstore, curated by Dashwood Books. The renovated Bookstore will feature carefully-selected titles focusing on contemporary art and photography including many out-of-print titles that continuously rotate based on Gucci’s inspirations. Bearing its own address and dedicated entrance at 375 West Broadway, guests will be able to flow freely between the bookstore and existing space to encourage cross-discovery. In conjunction with the debut of the SS24 collection, the Bookstore will showcase "Gucci Prospettive 1: Milano Ancora," the inaugural volume in a series of books intended to convey Sabato De Sarno’s artistic vision across various realms of culture and expression.
To showcase its enduring commitment to the arts, the new Gucci Wooster proudly features a collection of modern and contemporary artworks curated by long-time art partner Truls Blaasmo. The selected pieces, by American and international artists such as Alighiero Boetti, Larry Bell, Lucio Fontana, Autumn Knight and Sasha Stiles, encompass sculptures and video art. Inspired by SoHo's rich artistic heritage and its role as a creative hub for various forms of expression, the artworks encapsulate the limitless essence of repetitive movement, seeking to materialize the abstract within a tangible framework. Within the collection, video works explore the expressive nature of human gestures, including a video piece by Italian master Alighiero Boetti (1940-1994) that captures the architectural and emotional aspects of simple motions. Text repetition is employed to reinforce, reshape, or liberate meanings, using repetition as a tool for emphasis.
On the occasion of the grand opening, Gucci created a custom Ancora Airstream embellished with Rosso Ancora tulip flower arrangements, that traveled around New York City neighborhoods offering warm beverages to visitors. Additionally, to celebrate the launch of the SS24 collection, the House partnered with top destinations in New York including Sant Ambreous, Jean’s, and Nine Orchard to invite guests to discover and collect limited edition Ancora postcards featuring designs from the SS24 campaign.

In honor of the launch of the Gucci Ancora SS24 collection, Gucci hosted a party coinciding with NYFW at the newly renovated Wooster Street boutique, serving as the grand stage for the commencement of celebrations. The event gathered tastemakers across the entertainment, music, art and fashion industries to celebrate the renovated boutique.
Guests danced to a performance by Romy, whose hit Loveher served as a backdrop to Sabato De Sarno’s Ancora runway debut, as well as an opening DJ set by Amber Valentine and closing from Oza. Guests mixed and mingled enjoying a menu of passed hors d’oeuvres and desserts that celebrate Gucci’s Italian heritage and the spirit of the SoHo neighborhood while discovering contemporary artworks on display curated by long-time art partner Truls Blaasmo.
Guests were gifted a special Gucci Ancora manifesto poster and a vinyl copy of Romy’s album, Mid Air, from a custom Gucci Ancora airstream wrapped in Gucci Ancora Rosso. The days leading up to the event, the airstream traveled around New York City neighborhoods offering warm beverages, flowers, and Gucci Ancora postcards to visitors.
