The family of Dries Van Noten Eau de Toilette welcomes its third addition to the collection - Mystic Moss. This latest iteration joins Orange Smoke and Sur Ma Peau, creating a triptych of fragrances that continues Dries Van Noten's exploration of 'impossible combinations'.
A fusion of the expected and the beguiling, designed as a sensory surprise. Dries Van Noten's signature aesthetic, whereby opposing sensibilities come together to create new expressions and emotions, informs the creation of this new Eau de Toilette.
Dries Van Noten, working with renowned perfumer Nicolas Bonneville, presents a new vision of Cannabis Patchouli. The earthy effect of patchouli combined with the minerality of oak moss and salty flower, punctuated by a sharp splash of mandarin.
The story of Mystic Moss begins as a beautiful gesture; in creating 2022's Cannabis Patchouli, Nicolas Bonneville gifted Dries Van Noten a patchouli plant for his garden, botanics and nature being a constant source of inspiration for the designer. Mystic Moss arrives as a fresher interpretation of the original scent, carrying on a conversation around impossible combinations.
The name marries the intangible and the grounded. The spiritual and the elemental. The sharpness of green mandarin slices through the earthiness of oakmoss, with echoes of saltiness in the background. The aromatic notes of clary sage intermingled with the effervescence of citrus.
Beautiful, ethical
Dries Van Noten is committed to sustainable sourcing in the procuring of ingredients; oak moss is sourced in Macedonia, mandarins are sourced from Calabria and patchouli from Indonesia. Transparency and ethical practice are intrinsic to the process.
The sculptural bottle
The 200ml bottle allows for a generosity of proportions, a sense of joyful excess in the scale. Designed, like all the bottles that house Dries Van Noten's fragrance family, as a refined object in its own right. The bottle pays an homage to the apothecary. It mirrors the sensory journey of the scent, the clarity and crispness of the green giving way to the rich darkness of the soil shades. The gradients of colour in the glass evoke the depth and subtle storytelling of the scent itself.
