Church’s Announces The Launch Of Its Latest ‘Off Town’ Campaign
Luxferity, 11.09.2024
Church’s, the iconic British shoemaker, announced the launch of its latest ‘Off Town’ campaign which showcases the new collection of luxury handmade footwear by the 151-year-old heritage brand from Northampton, England. With creative direction by David James, photography by Phil Poynter and styling by Tom Guinness, the campaign is a charming and playful exploration of Englishness, all played out by a wonderfully idiosyncratic cast of characters at St. Giles House in Dorset, ancestral home to the 12th Earl of Shaftesbury.
Mount Erebus Deep Blue Rose Gold And Alligator
Ever since Church’s was founded by Thomas Church in 1873, himself the grandson of a cordwainer, one constant has remained - the reassuring beauty of a Goodyear-welted shoe built to last a lifetime. The Off-Town collection sees some of Church’s most iconic designs reworked with an elegant ruggedness and modern versatility. Details such as lightweight yet chunkier soles give the shoes added utility in the countryside while also offering a contemporary aesthetic that makes them right at home in a modern urban environment. The soles are the perfect blend of style and durability, and more than a match for the rigours of the great outdoors. The addition of hand-painted storm welts (as opposed to the traditional flat welt of a Goodyear construction) complements the chunkier soles too, while providing even more protection in wet weather.

The new campaign, featuring a plethora of domestic vignettes set around the beautiful English country home of St Giles House, teases out the idea of English eccentricity by placing the Off-Town collection in tongue-in-cheek scenarios, from lawnmower racing in pinstripe suits and bowlers hats to fly fishing in the garden fountain, and a trampolining session in immaculate black tie.

From the high-spirited images, it is inferred that one doesn’t simply wear a Church’s shoe, but rather inherits over a century of English shoemaking passion, innovation and know-how. All this comes intricately hand-stitched and moulded into a work of art that can take one from a boardroom meeting to an impromptu game of bicycle polo on the croquet lawn. With that much heritage woven into each and every sole, there’s no reason to tread carefully. Stride out, bold as brass!
