The art of metamorphosis is at the heart of the Maison’s watchmaking adventure.
Like a magician, Cartier defies time and its appearances, relying on the expertise and craftsmanship of the Maison’s artisans. True alchemists, they enhance metal and stones to craft precious objects of desire.
This ability to transform is also revealed by playing with and enhancing watchmaking forms through constant reinvention. By transforming material and shape on exceptional watches, Cartier Magician conjures beauty that stirs emotions and unveils the splendour of the world.

‘‘Through transformation and enhancement, at Cartier, time is the subject of multiple creative metamorphoses. These include metamorphoses of material, which the Maison’s watchmakers and jewellers have brought to life through a fascinating face-to-face encounter between an emerging panther and a precious watch. But there are also those of the Maison’s great watchmaking classics, whose inventiveness is perpetuated by Cartier. I’m thinking of the Panthère watch, which has undergone a spectacular jewellery transformation, and of course the Tank à Guichets watch dating back to 1928, for which we have specially developed the 9755 MC movement. Embodying design, technique, expertise and craftmanship, the watches in the 2025 edition of Watches & Wonders are the work of true alchemists.’’ - Arnaud Carrez, Senior Vice President - Chief Marketing Officer

TANK LOUIS CARTIER WATCH GROWS IN SIZE
Throughout its history, the Tank watch has undergone a remarkable transformation and its lines have evolved. Created in 1922, the Tank Louis Cartier is the successor to the original Tank, known as the Tank Normale, whose design Louis Cartier reworked just five years after its inception. The case is elongated, the brancards are refined, the angles softened, and the choice of the rectangular shape is embraced.

Now, Cartier has drawn on this design to imagine a larger version featuring a next-generation mechanical Manufacture movement with automatic winding. Integrated while respecting the lines and proportions of the Tank, this movement, named 1899 MC, allows for the enlargement of the Tank Louis Cartier, available in both rose gold and yellow gold.

THE TANK À GUICHETS: READ TIME DIFFERENTLY
Each year, this singular collection—beloved by watch enthusiasts—reveals a new interpretation of one of the Maison’s iconic timepieces, showcasing limited-edition creations. This year, it’s the turn of the Tank à Guichets, a watch that first appeared at Cartier in 1928, which combines technique and design to offer a digital time display.

Magic flows through Cartier’s creative spirit. Like a guiding thread, it combines with audacity to enhance the watchmaking designs of the Maison. This dynamic is felt in the new Tank à Guichets, which is equipped with a specially developed calibre, the 9755 MC hand-wound movement with jumping hours and dragging minutes. It has the same appearance as the watch from 1928, with the hour aperture at 12 o’clock and the minute aperture at 6 o’clock, as on the original, and the winding crown positioned at 12 o’clock. The satin-finish case contrasts with the polished horizontal brancards, enhancing the watch’s silhouette. The central face is in brushed gold or platinum.
‘‘This latest edition of Watches & Wonders reflects Cartier’s watchmaking expertise. It reveals the limitless versatility harnessed within the Manufacture and with our trusted partners, boldly innovating around new movements and reinventing the great classics of the Maison. It invites jewellery to move into the world of watchmaking and, at the Maison des Métiers d’Art, brings the precision of rare craftsmanship to the miniature scale of watch dials.’’ - Karim Drici, Manufacturing Director at Cartier

THE TRESSAGE WATCH: A WATCHMAKING SCULPTURE
Glacier Blue
Like a magician, Cartier transforms materials and shapes to bring forth an unexpected beauty that enchants us. With the Tressage watch, gold, diamonds and stones are transformed through an alchemy characteristic of Cartier. The result is a selection of flamboyant creations that are both original and faithful to the Maison’s codes.
As creative as it is precious, the Tressage watch follows in the footsteps of Cartier’s Maillon, Coussin and Reflection watches. Featuring yellow gold and distinctive volumes, this timepiece reinterprets these elements, drawn from the Maison’s vocabulary, combining and opposing them to create a true watchmaking sculpture.

PANTHÈRE JEWELLERY WATCH: A PIECE OF HYBRID ARCHITECTURE
The excellence and virtuosity of the Maison’s talented artisans form a singular alchemy. Through their work, with the panther’s presence, materials are transformed to bring spectacular creations to life.
Plissé - Pearl White
A watch and a piece of jewellery in one, this creation bridges the gap between watchmaking and jewellery, combining elements rooted in the Maison’s stylistic history. First there’s a three-dimensional panther that’s ready to pounce; then there’s a ‘Toi & Moi’ bracelet, featuring the Maison’s emblematic feline on one side and a delicate watch on the other. In yellow gold, this singular piece of architecture reveals a highly realistic sculptural work of art: a leaping body, slender muscles, a coat with black lacquer spots, ear and nose details and, under the paws, delicate, meticulously crafted pads. Featuring tsavorite eyes and an onyx nose, the feline plays with contrasts and brilliance with the black lacquer dial, diamond-paved bezel and, at 12 o’clock, a diamond for the hour-marker.
This watch, full of character, is part of a long tradition at the Maison. Over the years, the panther has revealed itself through numerous creative journeys. Today, it illustrates its astonishing ability to redesign, reflecting its power as much as its loyalty to the values it symbolises.

THE PANTHÈRE DE CARTIER WATCH: THE JEWELLERY EXPRESSIONS OF AN ICON
The Panthère watch, a true jewellery masterpiece, is reimagined through several creative interpretations. These animal variations of the panther icon inspired Cartier to create an abstract coat, somewhere between that of a zebra and a tiger. This graphic composition features motifs in black and golden-brown lacquer, pavé-set diamonds and orange and yellow spessartites.
n-42 Cobalt Blue Edition On Block Bracelet
This interpretation of the Panthère watch demands precise craftsmanship, particularly for the work on the lacquer, applied by hand and fired at high temperatures within the Maison des Métiers d’Art, as well as the snowsetting of the dial, adorned with 145 brilliantcut diamonds.
