Mugler Celebrates Earth Day
Mugler, 22.04.2020
Since 1970, Earth Day has been celebrated on April 22 to warn us about human impact on our natural habitat. Since 1992, Mugler has been committed to creating fragrances in an environmentally-friendly approach as a new way to experience luxury. With this conviction and thanks to concrete actions, we are creating, from our consumers to our partners, a community of stakeholders committed to the idea of a new, more sustainable perfumery.
The Mugler Fountain, The Symbol of a Circular Economy
Created in 1992, at the same time as Angel, the Fountain is a unique Mugler innovation allowing you to endlessly refill your Angel, Alien or AURA MUGLER Eau de Parfum bottle in store. Redesigned in 2019, the new Fountain is entirely eco-designed and meets the requirements of the circular economy.
- Since 1992, almost 900,000 liters of fragrance have been refilled*
- The equivalent of 36 million 25 ml bottles have been reused*
- The equivalent of 383 fewer tons of waste created each year**
- An entirely eco-designed object: each part can be detached and replaced separately, encouraging a longer lifespan
- Recyclable glass cartridges, made from 25% recycled glass

Bottles Designed to Last Thanks to Refill Bottles
Designed as works of art made to last, Mugler encourages the reuse of its Angel, Alien and AURA MUGLER Eau de Parfum bottles. For those unable to visit a store and take advantage of the Fountain, we have created Refill Bottles for each of our Eaux de Parfum to refill your bottle with your favorite fragrance at home.
Our Eco-responsible Ingredients for Sustainable Perfumery
The quest for the finest and most sustainably-sourced raw materials is at the heart of our commitments. With our partners, we carefully select ingredients from sustainable development programs to preserve nature, safeguard its resources and protect mankind.
From March to October, the Jasmin Sambac of Alien Eau de Parfum is hand-picked at dawn, before its buds blossom, ensuring the highest olfactory quality. The perfume house IFF-Laboratoire Monique Rémy selected Alien's Sambac Jasmine through its partner Nesso based in the southern Indian town of Mysore. This approach makes it possible to control the source as well as provide fair wages and working conditions for producers.
The Patchouli in Mugler’s Angel Eau de Toilette is selected by the Givaudan fragrance house. The Patchouli leaves used in Angel Eau de Toilette and harvested then distilled on the island of Sulawesi in Indonesia thanks to an exclusive source. To improve the sourcing, Givaudan has introduced the Sourcing for Shared Value program in Indonesia, which aims to improve the daily lives of producers and their families. There are 1,000 producers and 4,000 people who benefit from this program today.
With its rare organic and ethical quality, the Bourbon Vanilla in AURA MUGLER Eau de Parfum is sustainably sourced from our partnership with Firmenich. Harvested in Madagascar, it has been ECOCERT certified since 2005, Fairtrade certified since 2008, and Rainforest Alliance certified since 2011.
