Luisa Spagnoli Presents Her New Spring/Summer 2024 Collection
Luxferity, 26.09.2023
Female duality. Not necessarily a play on opposites, rather a combination of women’s multifaceted selves. Masculine and feminine, decorative and austere, boho and graphic.
Luisa Spagnoli reconciles contradictions and frictions, channeling her understanding of the female universe into glamorous and chic concoctions for strong-willed women embracing their life journey with determination and grace.
An imaginative trip around the world distilling the essence of femininity across time and space, with subtle references to 1970s icons and modern-day city dwellers, the spring/summer 2024 collection is a whirlwind combination of strong attitudes, confidence and mood-boosting fashion allowing the body and personality to express themselves.
For her show as part of Milan Fashion Week, the designer and entrepreneur channels the brand’s expertise and artisanal know-how into a round the clock wardrobe filled with summery knitwear that caresses the body, short tunics, see-through eveningwear, and girly business uniforms for world travelers and romantic dreamers, all occasionally zuzhed up by heraldic floral patterns, folk embroideries and a new double LS logo.
The brand’s mastery in knitwear, core to the Luisa Spagnoli’s fashion lexicon, comes to the fore in the knit tunic minidresses, oftentimes bearing floral jacquard patterns and worn with matching neck scarves, trimmed in playful pompoms, and featuring crisscross details framing the bosom. They turn into captivating off-duty diva separates in the short shorts paired with airy capes and maxi cardigans edged in swishy fringes and tassels or cocooning open-weave numbers.
When city life resumes tuxedo blazers with generous lapels are cut loose as if they were borrowed from a man’s closet and tossed over the resort-nodding concoctions, while relaxed vests in rich nuances such as sunflower yellow, turquoise, Klein blue and bougainvillea red, are paired with micro shorts as the business look of the season, flanked by highly embroidered overshirts and miniskirts ensembles.
As Luisa Spagnoli’s dreamy women indulge in life after-dusk, their garb embraces a dramatic turn with dainty and diaphanous gowns exuding an alluring boho vibe. Ivory white and tobacco brown georgette column gowns mingle with black see-through, fringed capes worn as dresses, romantic puffy-sleeved tops and lingerie-inspired pieces wrapped on the torso paired with floor-length pleated chiffon frocks and ruffled strapless numbers.
Accessories have an artisanal feel, as souvenirs from long-haul vacations. A soft suede clutch edged in fringes and complemented by a gold chain is the season’s carry-on, while every look is anchored in artisanal thong flats or wedged sandals punctuated by crisscross straps and tassels wrapping around the ankle. Multistack gold chokers and bracelet add a gust of sparkle to every look.
