Loro Piana Presents Its New Fall/Winter 2024-2025 Men’s Collection
Luxferity, 27.08.2024
The Loro Piana Fall/Winter 2024-2025 Men’s Collection honors 100 years of the Maison’s history and heritage with a far-roaming and extraordinary journey across fibres, fabrics, and shapes, commending the unique know-how, the technical expertise, but also the very personal take on elegance, that are the Maison’s founding and enduring values. With the “fiori di cardo”, thistle flower, symbol at its heart - the thistle used historically by Loro Piana to raise and brush cashmere in its factory, found in the historical coat of arms since 1951 - the Collection explores the worlds of iconic yet ruggedly classic Cheviot, Cashmere, the rarity of Baby Cashmere, and the nobility of Vicuña: fibers and fabrics that are unique in their nature and in the way they are woven into cloth. The naturally dark Pecora Nera®, exclusively sourced in New Zealand, magnificently lustrous and elastic, and the pleasantly rustic and resilient Sopra Visso wool, sourced on the Sibillini Mountains of Italy, are rediscovered and brought back. The details, thereafter, recall those found in the wardrobes of Sergio Loro Piana and Pier Luigi Loro Piana, men of exquisite taste. The cardo-shaped pins closing collars, in particular, while being an homage to the thistle used as a tool to raise the fibres and create a textured frisson finish, are reminiscent of the way Sergio used to store jackets in his wardrobe: with the collar turned up and the lapels closed and pinned in order to maintain the softness of the fold.

An equal sense of softness imbues the Loro Piana Men’s Collection. Unstructured blazers and roomy overshirts are formally informal in their neat yet supple precision. Coats have the amplitude of a family inheritance, and the same sense of lived-in ease. The Loro Piana man is an outdoorsy character with an elegant spirit, and that is reflected in the array of field jackets, bombers, multi pocket vests; in the delicate knits and wool fur shirt-jackets. Puffer jackets, as well as the Roadster in Sopra Visso, the Icer and Spagna icons further underline the idea of pragmatic stylishness. Soft tailoring is suited for different occasions. Evening wear is introduced with single and double-breasted tuxedos and plush shearling coats. True to the Loro Piana ethos, even at nighttime a certain ease stays, with silk turtlenecks replacing shirts, and stand up collar Spagna shirts doing away with bowties.

Sturdy derby lace-ups and loafers, and suede wallabies ground the looks. A Collection of men’s leather goods, in soft and practical shapes, is being introduced this season. Key styles are the oversized Bale bag, in a hobo version, and the hold-all weekender version of the Loom, the signature bag with a covered bar on the flap that recalls the drape of fabric across the bar of a loom. These comes in notes of warm tan, tundra green and black.
