Last summer, the new Kiton flagship store opened on Madison Avenue, also nicknamed "Italian mile" for the high concentration of Italian brand stores, in New York.
In this scenario, the B+Architects team was inspired by a simple but unexpected concept: the idea of a dwelling, like a symbolic new home for Kiton. The B+Architects studio created a boutique that is a true concentrate of elegance, integrated into the context of the street.
The store covers 150 square meters, on two levels, and will give particular emphasis to women's collections, even if one of the cornerstones of the concept is represented by the possibility that the furnishings are used indifferently for men's and women's collections.
The showcase and the entrance are deliberately minimal to create an immediate connection between the interior and the city and thus eliminating the feeling of crossing some kind of border, the transition is fluid and inviting.
Visitors are welcomed by an exhibition table, in special white resin, which marries the chromatic harmony typical of the Kiton boutique concept. The architectural identity that defines the interiors is linear and combines simple shapes and neutral colors with soft finishes. Textured fabrics, small touches of Canaletto walnut wood with a special natural finish, metals with a distinctive nickel tones.
The ceiling of the entrance has a unique glossy finish that helps to diffuse natural light throughout the ambience.
At the end of the path, on the ground floor, there is the lounge area, with customized seats and where a wide fitting room is also located.
A large mirror wall, which integrates an elegant and discreet LED wall, gives proportion to the staircase, open, light and bright, which opens onto the sales area.
A continuous play of reflective and textured surfaces, leads to the first floor where you can reach a small living room and a large dressing room that overlook with a large window on the Madison, bringing the colors and the New York atmosphere inside.
The pattern that makes the Kiton brand unmistakable could not be missing, a distinctive element of the concept studied by B+Architects in this store represented by decorative installations made with a mix of blue fabrics among the most precious of the brand.
The lighting, which blends with natural light, has been designed to ensure maximum visual comfort and the lighting fixtures equipped with LEDs with high color rendering allow a perfect visualization of the product.
The strong attention of the brand towards the theme of sustainability and environmental awareness also shines through in the choice of the floor formed by a compound of inert materials from recovery.
B+Architects is continuing to develop numerous other projects of the brand that will open new stores in London, Seoul, Zurich and Shanghai and in other important locations by the end of the year.
The B+Architects studio, founded in 1999 by the architect Bruna Galbusera, deals with Architecture, interior design, conservative restoration and competitions. In particular, over the years he has specialized in the field of luxury retail designing more than 500 boutiques for well-known brands including Loro Piana and Kiton. The union of ideas and the mixture of different creative areas are the real strength of the group and the numerous collaborations, in Italy and abroad, have contributed to enriching the experience in the management of each phase of the project, from the conception of the concept to the final result. Particular attention is paid to the management of technical aspects generating a true integrated design.
