EGONLAB Presents Its New Spring Summer 2022 Collection: Dynasty
Luxferity, 24.11.2021
Chapter I. Love after chaos.
For spring-summer 2022, EGONLAB returns with a collection called “Dynasty”, delivering a positive message: “Love after chaos”.
This season, it is the figure of Lady Godiva that inspired Florentin Glémarec and Kévin Nompeix. Legend has it that at the beginning of the year 1000, this early activist would have crossed the streets of Coventry naked on a horse, to convince her husband, the Earl of Chester, to reduce the taxes levied on the people to finance his military campaigns. This emancipatory figure, propelled the muse of the collection, reflects a fashion that federates and creates links. Open to the world, the EGONLAB “Dynasty” defends all points of view and dresses all bodies.
For summer 2022, the silhouettes are adorned with pieces with a medieval tone: the chivalrous spirit shines through in the quilted armor-style tailoring, the voluminous jacquard-woven trench coats evoking medieval tapestries or the XXL scalloped collars with a look of breastplates. The EGONLAB logo, revamped with medieval letters, stands out against a delicate guipure and the Gothic chokers are transformed into crystals, punctuated by charms.
The embroidered dragon cats wink when motifs of Phoenix and ouroboros - a snake biting its tail - punctuate the collection like parables of the eternal restart. Filigree is the idea that even after chaos, love remains. All of the label’s prints were developed in a renowned Italian workshop, where Alexander McQueen made his own.
The genderless spirit that the brand has cultivated since its inception is being reinvented this season; in pencil skirts and culottes worn in layering over trousers; games of transparency with mesh tops, a nod to Jean-Paul Gaultier; jewellery and/or accessories that punctuate the silhouettes. For the first time, EGONLAB unveils a semi-couture dress, which sculpts the body while adapting to all body types and genders with its modular corset set. Here again, Florentin Glémarec and Kévin Nompeix deliver a message of acceptance and inclusion.
This collection is also an opportunity for the duo to unveil their «Heritage» project, which aims to highlight artisans living in Paris or on the outskirts. In a world where immediacy is king, the two designers strive to defend traditional know-how, sometimes in the process of disappearing: hand-made guipure, beaded embroidery, jewelry fashioned by blacksmiths… Creating bridges between past and future, craftsmanship and innovation; EGONLAB is committed to the preservation of an exceptional, but often too forgotten, heritage.
