Alpiner4 Chronograph Automatic: The Saga Continues

A community impulse last year, an adventure that takes root today. Today, Alpina unveils a new line of chronographs that draws its sap from the heart of the Alpine forests, lakes and mountains.

Flashback: in 2021, Alpina is sounding out its community to produce three sustainable timepieces, made from existing components, produced as part of the Community Watch project, officially presented on December 11th, on International Mountain Day and in support of the Salomon Foundation, which helps injured mountain professionals and their families. 2022: in view of the success of these timepieces, and especially the Alpiner4 Chronograph "Granite" model, Alpina has decided to introduce it into the current collection to meet demand, and to complete it with two other models in the same spirit.

Inspired by nature and its fans

Close to nature, close to its community: Alpina has always maintained an intimate and exclusive link between its native mountains, the Alps, and all its fans who climb the summits with their bare hands or ski down the slopes.

When the company chose to produce three creations to mark its commitment to ecoresponsibility, its community proposed...5900 different names! And hundreds of variations of cases, straps, dials and hands.

The Alpiner4 Chronograph "Granite" was one of the names that emerged victorious from this passionate outpouring. This popular timepiece now enters the collection as the "Alpiner4 Chronograph Automatic" to meet the demands of its community. It is still inspired by the spirit of granite. And why? Because it has a steel case reminiscent of Alpine granite. Because its steel bracelet makes it the perfect tool watch, ready to climb the summits. Because its light blue dial, inspired by the Alpine lakes, is furiously trendy! So many assets that have seduced the Alpina community and that will now be offered to all collectors of fine Swiss Made watches. But that's not all...

Between forest and granite

Extending the spirit and inspiration of the first model, Alpina has completed its new Alpiner4 Chronograph Automatic line with two other variations. The first one takes up the attributes of its predecessor: robust 44 mm steel case water-resistant to 100 metres with engraved, shockproof and anti-magnetic back, sapphire crystal, steel bracelet, bidirectional rotating bezel and 24-hour graduated flange. But the exercise of the "granite" nuance is pushed to the limit, with an all-new grey sunray dial. Offering multiple shades as it is oriented in the sun, it allows the red chronograph minute hand to stand out with perfect legibility, for greater precision and reading comfort.

The third version is reminiscent of the Alpine forests, thanks to a bright and contemporary fir green dial. To complete the sylvan metaphor, the piece is worn with a bark-brown calf leather strap with off-white stitching. Like the other two models, this version is adorned with luminescent steel hands and is powered by the AL-860 self-winding movement, beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and guaranteeing a 55-hour power reserve.

ABOUT ALPINA: SWISS MANUFACTURER OF ALPINE SPORTS WATCHES SINCE 1883

Founded in 1883 and famous for its iconic red triangle, Alpina is a Swiss watch manufacturer based in Geneva. The brand set out to design luxury sports watches offering exceptional accuracy and reliability in the most challenging sporting environments, like the Alps. A true pioneer of the watchmaking industry, Alpina has been the source of numerous patents and innovative calibres over the past 138 years. At the beginning of the 20th century, Alpina became the official supplier of watches to military pilots, before revolutionising the concept of sports watches in 1938 with the legendary Alpina 4.

True to its long tradition of innovation, Alpina launched the first Swiss made Horological Smartwatch in 2015, creating a new segment in the luxury Swiss sports watch market. In 2020, the brand introduced the AlpinerX Alive, a new generation of connected watches equipped with a heart rate monitor and GPS, among other things. Also committed to protecting the planet, Alpina created the Seastrong Diver Gyre Automatic range using recycled plastic from the oceans. In 2021, the brand is doubling down on its promise to get involved with organisations fighting to protect the environment. Joined together by the unifying principle We Shape the Change – the environmental equivalent of Reach Your Summit – Alpina will undertake a variety of measures aimed at drawing public attention to current environmental issues.

Inspired by the Alps from the very beginning, Alpina has always been heavily involved in outdoor activities and mountain sports. The brand has established strong partnerships demonstrating its commitment to this world, as well as a team of 'Alpinists', including athletes and friends of the brand working in the most challenging environments.
