Rabanne Brand
Paco Rabanne X Linda Farrow
Luxferity, 26.05.2021
Paco Rabanne and Linda Farrow, two fashion names that reflect both heritage and innovation, have joined forces to launch a statement-making eyewear collaboration.
As iconic brands dating back to the same era, their expertise and creative visions align naturally. Combining superior craftsmanship and bold character, the two initial Paco Rabanne x Linda Farrow styles convey relaxed luxury, defining the face with striking shapes and colour.
Donyale is an oversized, ultra-curvy, silhouette composed of two tonal frames layered back-to-back for an arty, sophisticated look. Colourways include black and white; ocean and sky blue; and burgundy and red. An eyelet in 22 carat, gold-plated titanium adorns the temple as signature hardware. This ’70s-inspired frame is named after Donyale Luna, the first Black model to appear on the cover of Vogue in 1966, in the first-ever Paco Rabanne runway show and in the cult fashion film, Who Are You, Polly Maggoo? Moe, meanwhile, comes across with unisex allure; its thick frame hand-polished for a high-shine effect. Once again, a large, monogrammed eyelet accents the temple to signal the collaboration. Named after Moe Tucker, the drummer of The Velvet Underground, this model comes in black, white and pale pink – each pair transmitting a nonchalant rock attitude.
Handmade in Japan, both styles are sculpted in Italian cellulose acetate – plant fibres derived from renewable resources. Moreover, the black acetate consists of recycled material. Lenses made from nylon offer 100% UVA and UVB protection and include an anti-glare coating.
This exciting launch finds expression in a campaign by Quentin Saunier that winks at the classic film, Thelma & Louise. Driving through Mexico in a vintage convertible, three friends savour the freedom of the open road and the empowerment that results from trusting their instincts. Sunglasses on and celebrating their womanhood, they encounter each day with a stronger sense of self.
Available at the Paco Rabanne stores, 12 rue Cambon and 54 rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré in Paris, and on pacorabanne.com
