For MM6 AVP SS25, standardized archetypes are reformulated to become “extra” ordinary, drawing on the archives to create easy, versatile looks with a twist.

A quietly conceptual ready-when-worn wardrobe works both with and counter to the notion of generic foundational pieces. Familiar codes of dress are distorted to play up individuality. Classics are twisted, reconfigured, reassembled and recontextualized with seeming haphazardness. The clothes are shaped primarily by the wearer’s sensibility and attitude: playful design constructions and details lend themselves to multiple styling options. Patches, visible stitching, washed-out colors and raw finishes, as well as treatments lifted from the archives — such as fringes, washed cotton and distressed silk — reconnect with the humanist authenticity of unfiltered pre-digital times. Perfect imperfection and the patina of time add layers of soul and texture.

Volumes are variously reduced or extended to create unexpected details, shapes and silhouettes. Slits that act as armholes, airy oversized volumes, and a camp archive souvenir shop palm tree print salvaged from a long-forgotten CD-ROM conjure a sense of summer.

Classics are open to interpretation as the wearer sees fit: trench coats, biker jackets, tailored pantsuits and fluid coats in distressed silk lining fabrics are slashed in back so an arm can slip through, rotating the garment 90° so that it twists naturally around the body and morphs into asymmetric tops and dresses with a surrealistic evening attitude. Sleeves dangle in front and back or are cinched with thin belts to create distinctive new draped volumes. Elsewhere, shapes are darted to evoke the fitting process or tied, for example on a simple white jersey t-shirt ruched with packaging tape like an ad hoc DIY belt.
