Louis Vuitton Becomes The Official Trophy Trunk Partner To The Ballon D’Or

Each year, the Ballon d’Or® is awarded to the best women and men player in professional football of the season. Voted by 100 journalists from around the world, it has been awarded since 1956 for men and 2018 for women by French magazine France Football. For the 2023 Ballon d’Or® ceremony, which will be held at the Théâtre de Chatelet in Paris on October 30, Louis Vuitton, as part of a partnership with France Football and with the support of Amaury Media, has created two Trophy Trunks specially designed to hold the celebrated football-shaped awards.
The two bespoke Trunks, which are hand-crafted by experienced Louis Vuitton artisans in the Maison’s historic workshops in Asnières, just outside Paris, are covered in legendary Louis Vuitton Monogram canvas. Each Trunk has two folding front panels that feature a painted V – for “Victory” and “Vuitton” – in gold, for the first time on a Louis Vuitton Trophy Trunk, to match the colour of the Ballon d’Or® itself. The Trunks’ exteriors have a classic lozine trim – a signature Louis Vuitton material – and the same brass corner protectors, lock and clasps that have been used on Louis Vuitton trunks for over 160 years. The interior of the trunks features a drawer and are lined with black microfibre, with an embroidered Ballon d’Or® logo placed inside the lid.
The two Official Trophy Trunks for the Ballon d’Or®, which will be featured on stage during the ceremony, are further proof that “Victory Travels in Vuitton” and another landmark in the Maison’s continuing history of creating bespoke travel cases for the world’s most iconic trophies, including the FIFA World CupTM, NBA’s Larry O’Brien Trophy, Rugby World Cup, Formula 1 Grand Prix de MonacoTM, Davis Cup, Roland Garros, and the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup.
