Tramezza takes its name from the fundamental component of the shoe: a thick yet flexible layer of leather that is inserted between the insole and the sole. The so-called Tramezza, has the purpose of making the shoe durable and resistant, but at the same time flexible and comfortable. The Tramezza, made from a natural material, can mold itself to the shape of the foot and memorise its imprint.

In addition, the construction includes the use of a steel support element placed under the Tramezza - the shank (in Italian “cambrione”) - patented by Salvatore Ferragamo in the 1920s as an innovative solution to give stability to the shoe at the arch of the foot.

In this shoe, the upper is attached to the sole by double stitching, combining an assembly system incorporating three layers of leather (insole-guard-sole), with a total height of twelve millimeters. The leather sole is then shaped and finished by hand by skilled craftsmen, defining the perimeter directly on the last.
