Alexander McQueen Opens Its Largest Flagship Store In Paris
Luxferity, 01.06.2023
Alexander McQueen opens its largest flagship store to date on the prestigious Rue Saint-Honoré in Paris, following the design concept for the house conceived by creative director Sarah Burton in collaboration with the architect Smiljan Radic. Across two floors and approximately 1,555 square metres, this is in celebration of the house’s relationship with the city where, for over two decades, its main collections have been shown.
Home to women’s and men’s ready-to-wear and accessories, the main material used throughout the interior is wood: oak and walnut, light and dark. This appears on floors and walls, intricately engineered to fit the space. Traditional techniques are combined with innovative design. Experimentation is prized: ‘cotton-crete’, a cotton-based papier mâché, appears in the space. Changing rooms are located in glass cylinders that pierce the interior, reflecting light. They are lined in tapestries developed from prints from the ready-to-wear collections and woven by specialist artisans in Italy.
Artworks created by the renowned sculptor, Marcela Correa, appear on both floors carved in lapis gris. These proudly organic structures honour the natural beauty of the stone as well as navigating visitors through the space.
