Zimmermann: The new store in the heart of Milan
Zimmermann, 05.08.2020
Set over two floors within a 16th century palazzo, the space, designed by Studio McQualter, is comprised of a series of individual rooms that come together to create a fresh, feminine and optimistic feel.
Located on the renowned Via Santo Spirito, the ground floor features a glassed-in arcade emphasized with mirrored ceilings and a locally made Paladiana floor. The door and window detailing takes reference from the courtyard of Museo Poldi Pezzoli just a few streets away.
The original palazzo interiors and classic Italian design have been fused with unexpected references to an iconic 1960’s Sydney designer, Marion Hall Best, through bright lacquered colours, wall-to-wall carpeting and recycled Australian tallowwood details.
The Milan store features artwork by a variety of Australian Artists: Peter Cooley, Alasdair McLuckie, Wintjiya Napaltjarri, Laith McGregor and Tom Polo, and the Corded Chair (1952) by Clement Meadmore, a mid-century Melbourne designer.
