Piaget’s Valentine Collections
Luxferity, 03.02.2020
The origins of Valentine’s Day date back to ancient Roman times and the Festival of Lupercalia, a celebration that took place in mid-February to welcome spring and fertility. From around the 14th century, St. Valentine’s Day evolved into a celebration of romance where lovers expressed their affection for each other with red roses and gifts.
Piaget’s precious watch and jewellery creations make the perfect gift for a loved one on Valentine’s Day. Exquisite craftsmanship, stunning gem settings, and timeless designs make every Piaget creation a gift to love for eternity.
The Art of Light
Piaget loves to enhance its watch and jewellery creations by adorning them with diamonds. Using various gem-setting techniques such as grain-, baguette-, closed-, and claw-settings, Piaget’s artisans work with meticulous precision. From the choice of gemstone to the positioning of each stone to maximise the reflections, refractions and dispersion of light, each step is performed entirely by hand. Piaget’s designers and master gem-setters bring light to the Maison’s creations through their art.
The Art of Gold
Gold has long been the source of dreams and is at the heart of Piaget’s creativity. Since the 1960s, Piaget has acquired numerous goldsmithing crafts and skills that it has enriched and perpetuated for over 60 years, in-house, in its workshops “Les Ateliers de l’Extraordinaire”. It allows its designers and jewellers the creative freedom to explore their love for the Art of Gold.
For those who appreciate the beauty of the stars, the Altiplano watch with a meteorite dial makes a memorably present. It features a meteorite that dates back to the cataclysmic events that resulted in the creation of the solar system. Making every watch unique, the lines on the surface are known as Widmanstätten patterns. Symbolising a love that is deeply rooted in the birth of the galaxies, this timepiece is limited to 300 pieces.
Piaget has integrated a mother-of-pearl dial into one of its thinnest watches: The pink Altiplano. In rose gold and adorned with diamonds on the bezel, this watch perfectly showcases the elegance and aesthetic codes of the collection. As it is very delicate, mother-of-pearl is very difficult to work with. Cutting a dial so thin without breaking it requires a unique savoir-faire, and rare are those who master such skills.
The Piaget Polo watch is powered by an automatic movement and comes in rose gold featuring a set bezel and an impressive diamond-paved dial. Its shape-in-shape design is one of Piaget’s aesthetic signatures, and is enhanced by glistening diamonds that radiate an intense light. The Piaget Polo is the new standard for modern elegance.
Designed with a unique and iconic design, the Limelight Gala watch is perfect for the sophisticated and independent woman. Its sensual curves and precious gem-setting are accentuated by a Milanese mesh bracelet. Using gold-crafting techniques inherited from the 1960s, this special bracelet is made from several spirals of gold thread that are turned, weaved and squeezed to form a beautiful and flexible mesh.
For a gift that celebrates love in the present and future, the Possession watch is ideal. It features a rotating bezel, a signature design element of this collection. This watch has a dynamic energy that showcases vitality and a free spirit thanks to its dazzling bezel.
The Possession jewellery collection follows this same emotion, symbolising happiness in motion with its signature turning bands. Turning the ring with a simple gesture, however discreet, is a captivating and playful moment that mirrors its wearer’s ability to take control of the wheels of destiny, opening up a realm of possibilities. Piaget enhances the allure of its creations by adorning them with diamonds. There’s nothing more captivating than the glimmer of a diamond that catches your eye. The open ring in rose gold features two paved turning bands, while the bangle has four, both with two paved cabochons at each end. The pendant, with its spherical design that is half paved with diamonds, is a joyful expression of luck, happiness and love designed to be worn on a single chain or short with a double chain. The highlight of the collection – the signature Possession ring – is fully paved for unbeatable brilliance and is completed with two turning bands.
Piaget takes the romance of gifting flowers one step further with the Piaget Rose jewellery collection. A tribute to Yves Piaget’s passion for his favourite bloom, the rose takes on a myriad of sophisticated forms. From the Piaget Rose ring and earrings to the delicately adorned diamond pendant, each creation is a stylised interpretation of this undeniably beautiful flower. Boldly feminine, whether in openwork fully paved with diamonds, the Piaget Rose collection is the ultimate personification and declaration of love.
About Piaget
Piaget epitomizes daring creativity – a quality that has continued to permeate through the Maison since its beginnings in 1874. From his first workshop in La Côte-aux-Fées, Georges-Edouard Piaget devoted himself to crafting high-precision movements in a feat that formed the very foundations of our pioneering name. In the late 1950s, Piaget unveiled the ultra-thin movements that would later become the Maison’s trademark and the cornerstone of the Altiplano collection. As a true innovator of the watch and jewellery world, Piaget strongly believed in creativity and artistic values. It is within the walls of our “Ateliers de l’Extraordinaire” where master artisans continue to harness rare skills that have been preserved and perfected from generation to generation, transforming gold, stones and precious gems into dazzling works of art. Through its pursuit of masterful craftsmanship, the Maison has created emblems of daring excellence chanelled into its collections including Piaget Altiplano, Piaget Polo, Limelight Gala, Possession, Piaget Rose and Extremely Piaget.
