With L’Odyssée de Cartier, Cartier dives into the heart of its inspirations. A series of short films, whose first four episodes set the tone with stories dedicated to the Maison’s influences and the foundation of the Cartier style.

Over the course of its chapters, L’Odyssée de Cartier travels through time to tell stories big and small. Royal courts, far-flung inspirations, fauna, iconic creations, illustrious clients: the 20th century unfolds to the spirited rhythm of a narration performed by French actor and comedian Edouard Baer.

A creative dialogue between the past, the present and the future of Cartier, spanning more than 150 years.

CHAPTER 1: JEANNE TOUSSAINT, LA PANTHÈRE

The portrait of a woman who revolutionised contemporary jewellery. A designer who risked it all and invented the Panthère, the pioneering director of a great jewellery Maison. Explore how she became Artistic Director of High Jewellery from 1933 to 1970 and how her trademark "Toussaint taste" went on to influence the most elegant women of her time.

CHAPTER 2: CARTIER & THE BRITISH TOUCH

Destination: London and New Bond Street, the Maison’s historic temple and an essential part of Cartier’s DNA. See how English quirkiness was instilled in design and how the British spirit electrifies the Cartier style and elegance.

CHAPTER 3: CARTIER AND THE RUSSIAN INFLUENCES

Russia is one of the major stylistic channels present throughout the history of Cartier. During his first journey in 1904, Pierre Cartier discovers a world of influence: from enamel work to folkloric headdress, hard stones with new colour combinations.

CHAPTER 4: CARTIER AND THE ROAD TO THE MIDDLE EAST

From the early 20th century, Louis Cartier discovers Islamic art. It is an encounter, an aesthetic collision. An avid collector, passionate about art and curious about foreign cultures, he sees the power of these stylised yet abstract motifs. In 1911, his brother, Jacques, visits the Gulf establishing first contact and setting some milestones which will become one of the foundations of Cartier style.
