Charlotte Chesnais is happy to announce her collaboration with Object of Common Interest for the opening of her corner at Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann this December 2024. This partnership marks a pivotal moment of creativity, bringing together two designers to redefine jewelry display as a new form of art. Charlotte discovered Object of Common Interest (OOCI) in 2023 during the Salone del Mobile at the Nilufar Gallery. “It was love at first sight,”Charlotte explained, “a feeling as though I had met someone who spoke the same language as me.”

On the other hand, Eleni, one half of the duo behind OOCI, had long admired Charlotte Chesnais’s ability to transcend the conventional boundaries of jewelry, creating pieces that are as much art as they are accessories. “The extraordinary sculptural forms that Charlotte creates truly captivated me,”Eleni shared. “When Charlotte approached me, I immediately envisioned how these elegant jewelry pieces could be reimagined as larger volumes and masses, all while retaining their unique and sophisticated essence.” For Eleni, the project was an exciting challenge, fueled by the strong brand identity that defines Charlotte Chesnais. “This wasn’t just another commercial or retail project; it was an opportunity to explore innovative design concepts and push creative boundaries,” she explained.

The collaboration began with an immersive exploration of Charlotte Chesnais’s creative world.

“This deep dive allowed us to gain a profound understanding of Charlotte’s creative process and sources of inspiration,”Eleni noted. Materiality plays a crucial role in Eleni’s work, serving as the primary means of conveying the intended emotion and function of each project. “We carefully select and engage with different materials to ensure they translate the desired feeling and create an immediate connection with the audience,” said Eleni.

The forms explored in this collaboration were inspired by a shared love of natural attractions and abstract, organic volumes. “Our goal was to present luxury products in an improvisational and deconstructed manner, engaging both the customer and the viewer,”Eleni said. “We embraced the inherent nature and forms of the pieces to create an environment that extends and enhances the brand within the space.” In their designs, Eleni and Charlotte Chesnais explored the interplay between jewelry and resin, viewing them as complementary elements that enhance each other. “Our idea was to create a miniature sculpture park, zooming into a microcosm where these elements coexist harmoniously,” Eleni explained. “We focused on evoking the feeling and essence of a dreamy world, allowing the jewelry and resin to blend seamlessly in an artistic and imaginative setting.”
