Byredo introduces The Whoo bag, a new addition to the Kantha collection: a new shape with a familiar spirit. The Whoo bag is an iteration that focuses on timeless preciosity and everyday practicality.
Lensed by Luis Alberto Rodriquez, The Whoo bag takes center stage in a stripped back room, accompanied at times by a mysterious owl, an inviting nod to the bag’s name. The campaign, shot in black and white, allows for all delicate details and emblematic contrasting stitching to stand out.

The Kantha collection is a leather goods series of one-of-a-kind pieces of art, at the crossroads of engineering and craftsmanship. A modern take on the Indian ancestral Kantha embroidery technique, the line’s uneven and high-tech machine sewing detailing is its signature calling card. Finished by skilled artisans in our hand-picked Italian workshop, every stitch is cut and knot by hand. The result is that each finished piece is distinctly special and genuinely unique.
Underlining all that is treasure-like about The Whoo bag, each one is decorated with its own semi-precious stone, whose color depends on the galvanization of the brass, brushed silver or vintage gold. Six different coloured stones come embedded on a dig clip, in the supremely high-quality brass and branded hardware. Blurring the line further between design and functionality.
Made from supple, full-grain calf leather with a natural finish, Kantha The Whoo is destined to age beautifully, developing a rich patina over time that enhances its unique personality. The full-grain leather is reinforced with suede leather for added structure and suppleness.

The character of this bag lies also in its details. Embodying in part the bags versatile spirit, is the adjustable leather strap, braided and embroidered by hand, using Kantha stitching with knots and stones allowing for across the body or over the shoulder wear. The second level of detail is on the inside, where we find a hand-drawn illustration. This surprise has been silk-screened in gold leaf under the flap. Every discovery is a sign of craftsmanship and care. A regressive object completes the Kantha The Whoo shape. The associated key ring, with its characteristic weaving and leatherwork and a semi-precious stone insert to choose from six variations.
In its exploration of leather craftsmanship and the distinctive artistry of Byredo’s signature Kantha embroidery, The Whoo bag is an act of homage to the ancestral stitching that expresses creativity, patience and imagination.
